Engagement: Emma and Trevor

I woke up to rain on Sunday morning and I was soooo bummed, because I’d driven all the way to New York City to shoot Emma and Trevor’s engagement session - and shooting in the rain just isn’t as much fun as shooting in the non-rain. But in true New England “if you don’t like the weather, just wait a minute and it will change” fashion, it did stop raining and we had an awesome morning.

Of course the shoot wasn’t really about Emma and Trevor at all - even though they’re the ones getting married, these two STOLE the show:

You guessed it, those are Emma and Trevor’s dogs (Beau on the left and Pearl on the right) and I am now completely in looooove with them.

So, we did some engagement pictures and some family pictures, got completely muddy (thanks pups!) and ran around the Upper West Side of NYC for a morning. Not bad for a days work, if I do say so myself :-D Emma and Trevor came fully prepared, and had three costume changes waiting! Rock stars!

The human part of this family :) is getting married in June in Virginia and I’m psyched to be there. Yes, Beau and Pearl will be making a reappearance (although I hear they’re only coming to cocktail hour - probably just as well, they seem to be show-stealers ;-))

Oh, and I had sooo much fun shooting in NYC. I’m happy to go again any time (hint hint blogstalkers!) :)

Engagement: Joanna and Rob

On Saturday morning I met Joanna and Rob at the National Arboretum for their engagement shoot. Rob is a friend of Melissa’s - and I’m loving the fact that living in such a small world brings me such fun new clients :)

Joanna and Rob are getting married in FL (her home state) in May of 2009 - but being a super organized bride she’s already got lots of the details ironed out. That leaves her plenty of time to put the finishing touches on the DIY stuff she’s planning :) So cute :)

I’m not their wedding photographer - so sad! - as her mom already had someone booked in FL when they found me… but I’m seriously counting on seeing these two for many photo sessions to come. Bridal shoot? Just married shoot? I’ll do it! These two are super cute and really fun to work with, so I’ll take any excuse I can get :-D Come on Joanna, lets trash that dress :-D

In all seriousness, these two are obviously perfect for each other, and I had an awesome time just spending the morning with them :)

Wedding: Robin and Scott

When Robin emailed me to ask if I was available to shoot a wedding at Compass Point in The Bahamas, I immediately crossed my fingers, checked my calendar and prayed to all the gods out there that I was. You see, Compass Point is my most favorite place in the whole world (and where my husband and I got married last year!) and I jump at any chance to go there. Plus, ANY couple who chooses to get married at Compass Point is automatically a friend of mine, and I knew I’d have a great time working with Robin and Scott.

Well, the stars were aligned and I was available - and Robin and Scott were amazing to work with! I have never met a more laid back couple in my life (Robin spent the day of her wedding shopping in town and hanging out by the pool with her mom and her friends - she didn’t even start getting ready for her 6:30 ceremony until after 4 pm!). Their attitude was shared by all of their guests, who clearly enjoyed the touching ceremony, and the reception dinner under the stars - all wonderful, fun people who were simply a blast to be around.

Scott also wins the award for being the groom most enamored with his bride. He commented many times over how beautiful Robin was, how great she looked that day, and what a lucky man he was to have her as his wife. So so so sweet :)

I actually think they’re both pretty lucky - Robin and Scott are both awesome people, who care deeply for each other and for their loved ones. I think being surrounded by that love is a great way to start a marriage :) Congrats you guys!

Day After: Megan and Josh

After partying like rock stars well into the night, I was sure Megan and Josh wouldn’t be excited about our 7 am Day After session… and I was wrong once again :) Not only were they excited, ready to go, and looking great - they gave me some seriously smokin’ poses. Hot, hot, hot. And oh yeah, we had some fun too :-D

Wedding: Megan and Josh

If you don’t already know Megan and Josh and their family and friends, well - you need to seek them out and meet them. I don’t know if I’ve ever met such sweet and welcoming people in my life! It was an absolute pleasure to be with them on their wedding day, and experience the celebration with their guests.

Meg and Josh picked Moon Palace in Cancun, Mexico as the location for their destination wedding - and what a gorgeous setting! The weather gods were smiling on them, and their wedding day was a perfect sunny day with a slight breeze, just enough to cool people down during the dancing (and ooooh yes there was dancing, Megan and her girls can break it down!). The wedding was gorgeous and filled with personal touches, from the monogrammed aisle runner, to the welcome bags that each guest received, to the handmade place cards.

Really, I could go on and on, but what it comes down to is that it was a perfectly beautiful day for a perfectly beautiful couple. I was overjoyed to be able to be a part of it. Meg and Josh - congratulations! I hope we cross paths again soon :)

(Ooooh, and stay tuned for their very sexy day after pictures - this is one hoooooot couple!)

Sneak Peek: Megan and Josh

Hola from Mexico!

Megan and Josh’s wedding yesterday was absolutely stunning - and I have a feeling there are quite a few people out there waiting for some teasers… so, here are just a few of the many many more to come :)

Two from yesterday:

Two from today:

Engagement: Amanda and Steven

Dear loyal blog stalkers readers ;-) meet Amanda and Steven! You will be seeing a lot more of these two, as I will be shooting their ultra-romantic wedding in St. Lucia this summer (they’re eloping - just the two of them, and me! How COOL is that?) and then their At-Home-Reception in Boston this fall.

I am beyond excited to get to spend more time with these two - not only are they Red Sox fans from Boston (wahoo!), they’re super laid back, goofy, fun and sweet. Plus, totally and obviously in love - which is my favorite thing to be around. I can’t wait to capture the special moment between this couple as they exchange vows in private, I get goosebumps thinking about it.

So yes, stay tuned for more Amanda and Steven… but in the meantime, here are just a few shots from their engagement session on Sunday. Luckily for us the weather held out and it didn’t rain, although it was a bit chilly. I have a feeling chilly isn’t something we’ll have to deal with in St. Lucia :)

Wedding: Jill and Thad

Jill and Thad got married on Saturday, and the rain gods decided to bless them with good luck :) You see, most brides hope for sunshine on their wedding day, but really rain is good luck. Jill got the best of both worlds - it rained on and off throughout the day, but the timing was great for the most part. It didn’t interfere with the ceremony, the formal pictures, or any of the rockin’ party later that night.

I have also had some great luck this year, and have had the opportunity to work with some really awesome couples - Jill and Thad not being an exception. After dating for five years, they decided it was time to tie the knot - which they definitely did in style! Their morning ceremony was in the small chapel on the campus of the US Naval Academy, and their reception in the evening was at Jill’s parents house - which overlooks Annapolis, the Bay and the Naval Academy (and is absolutely gorgeous!).

One of the standout elements of this wedding was the killer band the couple hired. Doc Marshalls came down all the way from New York, and entertained the guests with New Orleans style jazz all night. I’m telling you what, if you want your guests to dance - these are the guys to hire. They kept the party rocking all night.

The other standout element to me was Jill and Thad’s amazing family and friends. This couple is so loved they had people travel from all over the globe, from China and Switzerland and all over the States (including a whole delegation from Mississippi!). Carmen (my second shooter) and I absolutely loved having an opportunity to capture all the love and joy that was in the air that night.

Congratulations again Jill and Thad :)

Wedding: Katie and Phil

I don’t even know where to begin to describe how great Katie and Phil’s wedding was. When I first met these two, one of the first things they told me was that in their time together they’d been to a record 17 weddings. From that, they took away two thoughts: 1) the one thing that they wanted to do for sure with their own wedding was to have an awesome party and 2) they wanted to make sure their wedding was a true reflection of them as a couple… and they definitely accomplished both.

It’s rare that you meet a couple as laid back as these two, and that set the tone for the whole day. Katie and Phil chose to see each other before the ceremony, and there was no pomp and circumstance involved - instead, they spent the time before their wedding goofing around with family members. When Katie was obviously chilly during the ceremony, Phil gave her his jacket to wear. They cut wedding pies rather than an ornately decorated cake. They hired a killer bluegrass band to play for their guests during cocktail hour and dinner (the band is Bitter Creek Insrumental - and you should seriously check them out, they rock!). During the speeches that they gave after dinner they thanked not only their families, but all of their friends who had come from miles away to celebrate with them. Rather than formal place cards, they set a photo of each of their guests at the place where they were to sit - and there was a personalized page for a wedding scrapbook there for them to sign. The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels was the perfect choice of location - intimate and fun. Their first dance was a fun jig, rather than a traditional waltz (and they executed it perfectly, I must say ;-)). I could go on and on :)

Really, it was just a beautiful day - for a wonderful couple. I am so happy for you two, and I can’t wait to hear about Italy when you get back. Caio, and safe travels!
